Students That Are Respectful, Responsible, & Safe (S.T.A.R.R.S.) is the goal of a new process adopted this year at Union Star to develop the best possible learning environment for our students.

The process focuses on improving our school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students – particularly regarding being respectful, responsible, and safe. The process is commonly called Positive Behavior Support (PBS).

Part of that process is the identification of important, basic positive behaviors that are expected at all times, in all places. This is accompanied by identifying similar positive behaviors that are expected at various places or activities, such as the classroom, hallway, restroom, cafeteria, school events, recreation areas, and on the bus.

S.T.A.R.R.S. Store Opens

The Union Star Positive Behavior Support program’s S.T.A.R.R.S. Store opened up this week for students K-12 to redeem the S.T.A.R.R.S. Bucks they may have received for being observed by staff exhibiting exceptional positive behavior by being Respectful, Responsible, and/or Safe.

The items in the S.T.A.R.R.S. Store provided an earned reward for positive behavior. Choices ranged from soda to candy, school supplies to toys, as well as a variety of privileges.

The S.T.A.R.R.S. Store will now have regular hours on the first Wednesday of every month. The elementary students will be able to visit the store in the morning and secondary students will visit the store during seminar.

Donations of new items to add to the stock of the store are always welcome and appreciated.
