Due to a high number of student and staff absences caused by illness, school will be closed tomorrow, Friday, February 27th to help prevent further spread and allow time for cleaning and recovery. Kids Heart Challenge donations are due tomorrow! Please remember to send your students to school with their collection envelopes or make your final online donations. Congrats to Jarrett Thiemann and Kaler Baker for winning Silver and Bronze, respectively, in the area SkillsUSA Collision Repair Technology competition. The two were honored this afternoon in a formal ceremony in St. Joseph.

Winners of the Dekalb County Spelling Bee held on February 10, 2026 at Union Star school:
1st place: Bo Millenbruch, Osborn
2nd place: Adyson Wilson, Stewartsville
1st Alternate: James Findley, Osborn
2nd Alternate: Natalie Rowland, Union Star.
Kamryn Grace, Harper Hodge, Caradee Jackson, Morgan NInas, and Natalie Rowland represented Union Star R-II, with Natalie finishing fourth overall and earning a place as second alternate to the regional bee.
There were 18 participants. The 1st and 2nd place winners will advance to the Regional Spelling Bee March 7, 2026 in St. Joseph, MO. Congratulations to all who placed!

This weekend we are competing against other schools in the area to have the most families complete Finn's Mission. The school that wins will receive an extra $100 to purchase new PE equipment.
